Meet Leo and Sue, the heart behind LS Adaptive.
When our co-founder Emily stepped away from her career to care for her parents, she saw how much Leo could still do on his own. But one small moment kept stopping him. The top button on his pants. A simple task that quietly stole time, patience, and dignity, day after day.
Watching her dad struggle with something so ordinary changed everything. It was not just clothing. It was independence. Comfort. The feeling of being capable in your own body.
LS Adaptive was born from that moment, and from Leo and Sue’s strength. Every design we make is guided by their story, and by the belief that getting dressed should never be the hardest part of your day.

LS Adaptive designs everyday clothing with our intuitive Hana Fasteners™, a first-of-its-kind secure magnetic fastening technology created as an alternative to the Velcro closures commonly used in adaptive pants today.
Rooted in the Korean word for “one,” Hana reflects our belief in simplicity and unity. Thoughtfully engineered for one-handed use, each piece removes barriers, saves time, and supports independence without sacrificing style, comfort, or dignity.
How We Show Up
We co-create every detail alongside wheelchair users, amputees, and healthcare professionals. From early sketches to real-world fit trials, their lived experience shapes each piece before it ever goes into production.
Each piece is designed with your needs at heart. All products are imagined and developed in our studio, where ideas often stem from the thoughtful feedback we receive throughout the year.
We are proud to be the founding startup leading Northeastern University Charlotte’s Innovation Nexus, driving engagement and collaboration.
